Joining the Lockdown bakers - WTF the struggle is real, I cannot bake🎂👩🏻‍🍳

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

I have been watching all this baking happening on social media and my son asked me "Mom when are we going to bake?" “You should know this by now I cannot bake there is just no way”. BUT the pressure was real, because I have FOMO and need to actually join the club and bake something. It was on like a scone!

I made that easy egg, oats, and banana flapjacks this morning and even flopped that, a three-ingredient flapjack that I could not get right. I believe baking is good for stress relief or something to keep busy with when you are bored, each to their own then as baking stresses me out!

WHY!!! 🙄

I have made one successful yummy savory treat during lockdown which was Marmite wheels, it brought back sweet childhood memories. If you flop that then I do not know. When it comes to measuring flour and baking stuff that must rise like bread or cake it is just a No No. I make the most delicious food, because I can just add everything and measure with the eye; I just cannot bake.

If there are any of you out there that suck at baking as much as I do; here are 3 easy lockdown recipes I found for the incompetent bakers club:

- 1 packet of muffin mix

- 4 ripe bananas

- 2 eggs

- Mix it all together and bake on 180ᵒC for 1 hour.

- 1 cup of sugar

- 1 cup of self-raising flour

- Pinch of salt

- 1 cup of warm water

- 2 eggs

- 3 tablespoons cocoa

- 4 tablespoons oil

- Mix it all together and put in microwave for 7 minutes, decorate as you please, easy way is to use caramel treat in a tin, if you cannot make your own icing like me

- Today Frozen Puff Pastry

- Marmite

- Grated Cheese

- Spread the entire sheet of pastry with a thin layer of Marmite, then a thin layer of cheese, roll it up and cut into slices. Put it flat on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes at 200ᵒC

Let me know how it went or share pictures on the FB page of your end result.
